AURE RH Recruitment Services Sarl, a member of AREKO GROUP, is recruiting for one of its clients in the automotive sector: a Technical Manager – Automotive.

Job title: Technical Manager – Automotive (M/F)

Main mission:


Drive the technical performance and service quality of the workshops to ensure a high first-time fix rate, reduce returns, guarantee compliance with OEM standards and local regulations, develop team skills, and support profitable growth of the after-sales business.

Activities:

Technical leadership & workshop support

  • Provide high-level support on complex failures (advanced OBDII/CAN diagnostics, HV/Hybrid if applicable).
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and verify their application (reception, diagnosis, repair, quality control).
  • Approve road tests and final checks before vehicle handover.

Quality, warranty & OEM compliance

  • Oversee warranty files (eligibility, justifications, retained parts) and reduce rejection rates.
  • Manage technical bulletins, recall campaigns, and service actions; achieve execution rate ≥ OEM targets.
  • Lead OEM quality audits and corrective action plans.

Training & skills development

  • Develop the annual technical training plan (mechanics, electricity, diagnostics, HV).
  • Train/coach workshop managers and technicians; certify levels per brand standards.
  • Update the documentation base (manuals, TSBs, diagrams).

Operational performance & KPIs

  • Track workshop productivity/efficiency, FTFR, comebacks, standard times, and lead times.
  • Analyze root causes of recurring failures and implement countermeasures.
  • Run weekly performance reviews and continuous-improvement rituals (5S, Kaizen).

Customer relations & sales support

  • Support reception and customer relations on sensitive cases; provide clear, accessible technical communication.
  • Contribute to after-sales offers (maintenance packages, service contracts) with technical validation.

Equipment & special tools management

  • Define needs, supervise calibration and maintenance of equipment (lifts, diagnostics, A/C).
  • Ensure availability and proper use of OEM special tools.

Safety, environment & local compliance (Cameroon)

  • Ensure compliance with HSE rules (PPE, lifting, fire safety, hazardous waste: oils, batteries, tires).
  • Ensure compliance with local requirements (labor inspection, workshop standards) and internal policies.

Parts coordination & planning

  • Work with the Spare Parts Manager to secure critical parts and improve fill rate.
  • Optimize workshop planning (capacity, appointments, fleet/professional priorities).

Budget & investment

  • Build and monitor the technical budget (tooling, training, warranty, quality).
  • Propose CAPEX to modernize the workshop and improve profitability.

Education and experience:

  • Master’s degree (Bac+4/5) in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; OEM certifications appreciated.
  • 7–10 years in automotive after-sales, including ≥ 3 years in technical management across multiple workshops or a dealership.
  • Mastery of advanced diagnostics, reading schematics, HV/Hybrid (preferred), OEM warranty procedures.
  • Fluent French; technical English required for OEM documentation.

Required skills

  • Diagnostic tools (Launch, Autel, Bosch KTS, OEM), OBDII/CAN, electrical measurement, ideally oscilloscope.
  • OEM technical platforms (EPC/EWD/TSB), warranty portals, recall procedures.
  • ERP/CMMS (SAP B1, Odoo, Sage), strong Excel and BI tools for dashboards.

Personal qualities:

  • Leadership, teaching ability, and skill-building mindset.
  • Customer- and results-oriented; methodological rigor and strong safety awareness.
  • Data analysis, problem-solving, clear communication (shop floor & leadership).
